Services Australia has been removing your customers’ access to Medicare Online claiming (including Department of Veterans’ Affairs and the Australian Immunisation Register) using adaptor technology since 4 October 2022.

What this means

Sites that use adaptor technology to submit claims or data using Medicare Online will have their access gradually removed over a 6-8 week period starting from 4 October 2022.

If your customers use practice management software to submit claims and data to us using Medicare Online, they must transmit using web services and PRODA by this date.

Sites that haven’t transitioned in time will need to use alternative claiming channels which may cause disruption, additional administration pressure and costs to their business.

We’re continuing to work with you and your customers to minimise impacts and will be contacting your end-users that are still transmitting on adaptor technology to:

  • encourage them to upgrade to web services software
  • discuss options in transitioning away from adaptors

What actions need to be taken

Please help your sites transition to web services and PRODA.

Ensure that they’ve registered their PRODA organisation to authenticate future web services transmissions (if applicable).

Email us at HELP.WEBSERVICES@servicesaustralia.gov.au if you need support.

You can contact Online Technical Support (OTS) on behalf of your sites or your customers can call eBusiness Service Centre on 1800 700 199 (8am to 5pm) local time and choose Option 3 for more information.
